GLOSSARY TERM
What is AI Overview (Google SGE)?
Definition
Google's AI-generated summary box that appears at the top of search results, providing a synthesized answer to user queries by pulling information from multiple web sources.
Why it Matters for AI Search
AI Overviews now appear in over 60% of Google searches, pushing traditional organic results below the fold. If your site isn't structured to be cited in AI Overviews, you're losing traffic even if you rank #1 organically. Optimizing for AI citation is no longer optional.
