GLOSSARY TERM
What is Backlink?
Definition
A hyperlink from one website pointing to another. Search engines treat backlinks as "votes of confidence" — the more high-quality, relevant sites linking to you, the more authority your domain gains.
Why it Matters for AI Search
Backlinks remain one of Google's top 3 ranking factors. Quality matters far more than quantity — one link from a high-authority site in your niche is worth more than 100 links from irrelevant or spammy sites. AI engines also use link authority to determine source trustworthiness.
