GLOSSARY TERM
What is Duplicate Content?
Definition
Substantively identical content appearing on multiple URLs, either within one site (internal) or across different sites (external). Search engines pick one canonical version and may suppress the rest.
Why it Matters for AI Search
Duplicates split ranking signal across multiple URLs, so none rank as well as a single consolidated page would. Common causes: HTTP/HTTPS variants, www/non-www, trailing slashes, URL parameters, and copied product descriptions.
