GLOSSARY TERM
What is CrUX (Chrome User Experience Report)?
Definition
Google's public dataset of real-user performance metrics aggregated from Chrome users who opt in to anonymous usage statistics. The source of "field data" in PageSpeed Insights.
Why it Matters for AI Search
CrUX is what Google actually uses for the Core Web Vitals ranking signal. Lab data (from a single Lighthouse run) is faster to iterate against, but only field data affects rankings. CrUX needs about 28 days to update after you ship a fix.
