GLOSSARY TERM
What is Interaction to Next Paint (INP)?
Definition
A Core Web Vitals metric that measures a page's overall responsiveness to user interactions by observing the latency of all click, tap, and keyboard interactions throughout a user's visit.
Why it Matters for AI Search
INP replaced First Input Delay (FID) as Google's primary responsiveness metric in March 2024. A poor INP score (above 500ms) causes users to experience lag when clicking buttons or navigating menus, directly hurting conversions, bounce rate, and search rankings.
